This March Break I…
Headed to Halifax, Nova Scotia to visit the girl;
Saw Wilco at the Halifax Forum (‘nuff said/pic very related);
Watched Canada win Gold in Men’s Hockey while downing pints at a pub in downtown Hali, ensued by the most fervent spectacle of wild and inebriated nationalist spirit in downtown city streets i’ve seen in awhile;
Drank my first Oland’s beer and does it ever beat Schooner;
Read Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury (blog preceeding);
Read The Acid House by Irvine Welsh (blog forthcoming);
Bought White Noise (DeLillo), The Plague (Camus), Unberable Lightness of Being (Kundera), Mostly Harmless (Adams), Empire of the Sun (Ballard);
Played Monopoly twice, and went bankrupt twice;
Ate lamb rack and drank fine wine at a ritzy Italian restaurant;
Drank too many espressos and not enough booze;
Stirred up many childhood memories when I ate at Chickenburger, a famous 50s diner where i had my first experience with a jukebox at a very young age (juke choices of a five year old you ask? Rolling Stones and the Ghostbusters theme);
Had a peak in both showering and sexual activty (not sure which caused the other);
Saw The Imaginarum of Dr. Parnassus at a midnight showing;
Saw Alice in Wonderland in Imax;
Ate and drank at an array of breakfast joints, pizzerias, gastro pubs and cafes;
Went to both the Farmer’s Market and and this decent flea market (where i repurchased a childhood toy that’s always had an imprint on my memory);
Spent too much money;
Got stressed on the ride home, away from la-la land, into the harsh and looming reality of school projects, papers and profs;
Couldn’t help but feel satisfied.
