The question of exactly what mirror neurons are, and their role in our brain, has been the subject of ongoing research and debate; linking them to evolutionary roles of imitation, language acquisition, and empathy, among many others. Whether mirror neurons are as important of a research subject as he insists on them being, I’m not of sufficient knowledge to say.
